Dunston retain Cullington Cup after thrilling finish!
This Sunday saw Dunston Hall defeat Eaton at Costessey Park to retain the Cullington Cup. After being all square at lunch, the afternoon matches were, again, very competitive and with the last match playing the final hole in dwindling light, Dunston were 1 up overall and required just a half to avoid a play off! Suffice to say it was a fraught final few shots with Eaton on the green for 2 and Dunston just off the green in 3, however, the Eaton player left a long range putt five or so feet from the hole. JP then lagged his putt 2 feet from the hole, he did say afterwards that he tried to sink it. This then resulted in Eaton needing to hole their putt to win the hole and guarantee a playoff, the putt was just missed. It then left Ian Percival to sink his putt as it wasn't conceded, dare I say quite rightly with so much at stake. In fading light with a tricky downhill left to right putt, Ian was firmly up to the task and the putt found the bottom of the cup, wiping its feet on the way.

Dunston Seniors Raise £3,000 for the Alzheimer's Society
The Seniors held their annual charity event on Tuesday, 13 September. This year the seniors voted to support the Alzheimer's society which is the leading support and research charity for all people affected by dementia.
The fundraising included a sweepstake on Richard Tidy's score which was won by Tim Parsons and Maurice Robinson who both guessed 75 plus 2 birdies. Richard has promised to try to beat this score next year.
Seniors Captain Stuart Mudie was pleased to give Jenna Veneziani of the Alzheimer's Society a cheque for £2000 raised on the day. This was in addition to £1,000 raised prior to the event mainly through the members' weekly raffle organised by Alf Guttridge.
Paul Lines was the overall winner with 45 stableford points and his prize of a Golf Trolley, The Harold Harman Trophy and a cheque for £25 was presented by Julian Harman, grandson of Harold Harman.
Dunston Seniors would like to thank everyone who made the day possible. We raised £350 from the raffle on the day and £570 auctioning gifts donated by our generous members and supporters.
