Seniors' Report
Tuesday's Medal saw some great golf played. Conditions were perfect for golf, bright sunshine and the course in great condition. The braver golfers who opted for playing from the Whites resulted in Paul Lines taking 1st place with a nett 73. Colin Sherwood in 2nd place was only one shot behind with a nett 74. Ian Percival in 3rd place finished with a net 76. Well done to you all, a bottle of vino will await you at the Starters table next week.
Those players who graced the Yellows contested a very tight competition as well, in 1st place was Rod Clayton with a nett 68. 2nd place was Rod Barker with a nett 68 (ocb) 3rd place was Dave Griffiths with a nett 69 (ocb), well done to you all, a bottle of wine will be at the Starters table for Rod Clayton as Yellow tee winner.
Rick Pettengell, won the raffle with a £25 prize. There was another excellent turnout with over 50 Seniors taking part. Thanks for your support.
As soon as the Master scoreboard results are published, I will announce another prize winner. James Cunliffe our new Pro has donated a FREE golf lesson, and the voucher I shall present to the last player listed on the scoreboard, not including N/R's. Thanks for that James.
Straight off the press is our result from the latest friendly match vs Rookery Park, played today (Wednesday). We were beaten 4.5 to 1.5, by a very handy Rookery Team (8 of their players were off 16 and lower handicap). A great days golf, good food and company. Stuart Mudie and Robert Wheeler managed our only win, and Maurice Robinson and Mike Hudson registered the half. Well done to those stalwarts.
I would like to see a few more volunteers to join the seniors working party. Generally, we will turnout for work on a Wednesday approx. once every 6/7 weeks. Time 9.00am to 12.30pm and then 1pm a light lunch and refreshment is included, this constitutes your wages!
It's great fun to work with the Green Staff, and helps you understand, the dilemmas they have to deal with. The next WP will hopefully the 7th June 2017, we will help paint the bridge over the 13th/16th lake, Divotting, Tee work, clearing sprinkler heads and infilling the rear of the temporary tees, where possible. If it's for you, please ping me an e-mail.
