Executive Committee

This offers an opportunity to get involved at the planning and operational level of our activities- bringing new ideas, and the reality of being a CLUB member to future planning. It also offers an opportunity to be involved in other activities of your choice.

Assistant Junior Organiser

This is an opportunity to join the vibrant, and active Junior sub-committee, working alongside an experienced member of the Executive committee for one year whilst learning the ropes, with a view to taking over as County Junior Organiser in 2019.

USPGA Championship

Underestimated or under the radar?

Justin Thomas fulfilled many people’s dream on Sunday by claiming his first Major title at the USPGA Championship. The year’s final Major at Quail Hollow didn’t really ignite until the back nine on Sunday, where Thomas took centre stage.

The American looked to be heading towards trouble on the 10th only for his wayward tee shot to ricochet off a tree and back onto the fairway. If that wasn’t a sign that it was going to be Thomas’ day then what followed on the same hole definitely was.

The 24-year-old’s eight-foot birdie putt stopped on the edge of the hole, defiantly staying above ground for over seven seconds, before eventually dropping to the bottom of the cup. He followed this with a chip-in birdie at 13 and a birdie at his penultimate hole – set up by a sublime 214-yard 7-iron to 15 foot – to win the USPGA by two shots.

At 24 years of age, this win sees Thomas join Nicklaus, Woods, McIlroy and Spieth in being one of only five golfers to have won four times (including a Major) in a single season before turning 25. It really is hugely impressive when you think about it, which leads us on to this week's question:
