Good Afternoon All Seniors Golfers, welcome to another Captain's Blog a general update to all. Tuesday 17th was another Seniors Shotgun Competition, Captain vs Vice Captain. Held in wonderful weather and brilliantly supported by another 50+ entry. Thanks, to all of you for that support. I was wondering whether to score the match in Hambro format or by the traditional, win lose or half. However it wouldn’t have mattered, as my Vice, Leigh Shackleton, managed to drive his team to victory 8-6. It really came down to the fact if I had helped win our 4 ball, with Clive " Diggers" Digby, (managed a nice birdie on the 14th ) the Captain’s Team would have managed a 7-7 draw! John Love, had a good day. His golf was ok by reports and general feedback, he won the draw and a tidy £27. And also won a nearest the pin on 18, a nice bottle of red. Oh No! Colin Taylor won the nearest the pin on the 14th. David Rae accepted the prize on his behalf. So make sure you get it Colin! The Baker Cup v the Ladies is on 26th October 2017. I have just issued the team sheet, I have also just had notification that the cost is £11, entry and 1 course meal. Good luck to the Leigh S and the Hodds Team who play their next knockout round at Dunston tomorrow 9.00am tee off. The dates are set for next year’s "Green Jacket Tour" at Belton Woods, they are 27th and 28th June 2018. I shall be taking bookings for the event from probably December this year. So please don't book your summer breaks then, and instead come and have two days away, playing golf on a couple of great courses, for the prestigious "Green Jacket" all for around £90* (*subject to final confirmation and optional single room supplement). I would like to beat last year’s entry of 24, so can we hit 30 this year? Also, early warning re the 19th December 2017. That will herald the last big get together of the year, and my last "biggy" as Captain. I would like to raise the roof and fill Bunkers with the Total Membership. It's the Adcock Shield, and prize giving. If you can enter to play then great. Notices will be up on the noticeboards in good time. But if you can't play please come and eat with us, enjoy the prize giving, banter, and of course my quality joke telling... not. Let's raise the roof and send out the 2017 golfing year in style. So if you have read this to the end ... thank you. See you all about the Club - Captain Richard. Pip's Blog
