Many thanks to all of the Seniors who played in yesterday’s Captain’s Day. It was delayed by a month due me going across the pond to my son’s wedding celebrations. We still managed some fine weather, an excellent half way house and some good banter. We had a number of Ken’s wine bottles to give out. Nearest the white line on the 2nd with a drive that put the efforts of Messrs Digby and Shackleton to shame was from Barry Cope. Well-deserved Barry. Nearest the pin on the 14th was TV celebrity Rod Clayton and longest drive our very own County Cricketer, Fred Handley. In first place a relatively new boy who managed to introduce himself after I forgot! Congratulations and apologies go to Steve Jermy with a very good score of 42. A clear winner. In 2nd place a man who is collecting wine for fun, Ian Percival. In 3rd place on 39 was Colin Skeels, who also won Alf’s draw with £24 cash to take home. Not a bad day Colin. Just missing out on countback were Clive Digby and Mike Lawrence. We heard about Barry Larke’s ancestors (a mistress of Cardinal Thomas Wolsey)! Handed out the wine for the previous two weeks and the assembled throng listened to a true story involving Rod Barker. Thanks again to all involved and for all of you who so quickly answered the call to bring raffle prizes and sponsor a hole for the upcoming Charity Day in September. Lastly, I must mention the fact that Norwich City have painted the away teams dressing room pink. That is why our very own Richard Franklin wears his pink shorts and shirts. A Canaries supporter obviously! See you all on the course. Leigh.
