Seniors Blog Over 50 seniors played yesterday in the Senior Monthly Medal off both whites and yellows. As I write this the rain is falling down so the competition was played on the right day! Back on this day in 2005, Hurricane Katrina made its second landfall causing $115 in damage. Wine for the top two in each competition, so George Karklins will be restocking his wine store again with a nett score of 72 off the yellow tees. Four players achieved a 73, but experience came to the fore. In 2nd place the one and only, Frank Allen. A near miss for Alan Gotts, Barry Larke and Steve Skipper. Well done all of you. Good to see Dave Griffiths around the links again and putting in a good performance with the lowest gross score. Still got it Dave! The long hitters produced another close competition with John Love coming out on top with a nett 75 and lowest gross score. Yet again Ian Percival was up there on the podium just one shot behind. Well done to all those who made the top three. My coach Andy Frost was third and so another is back on form for the autumn. We have matches coming up in September, as well as the Hodd’s Salver over at Heacham. Practice round this Friday. Stuart Mudie is running that for us and has also got us an away fixture against the boys at Eaton with a Dunston connection. Let us hope that Messrs Love and Karklins have peaked! Thank you to the members who have given me their apologies for missing the upcoming Charity Day due to holidays. The rest of us will be there. If for any reason you are unable to attend then how about contacting me with a sealed bid for one of the 4 ball vouchers at other clubs. It is the sort of thing that you can join together to spread the cost. One fantastic auction item is a microlight flight donated by our very own Bryan Smy. A number of us saw him take off from the course on Captain’s Day. Even if you do not feel you have a head for heights, there may well be someone in your family group who would love the experience. Sealed bids accepted if you are not here on the 25th. Keep those raffle prizes coming in for Alf, still a few holes left to sponsor.
Click here for more info on the Charity Day. Now, I have left this until last. The winner of Alf’s weekly draw was… George Karklins! £26 to go with the Medal and the wine. Can it get any better George!
