Tune Up Tuesdays

On a Tuesday I will have two slots running from 6:20pm and 6:40pm for twenty-minute mini check-up lessons for just £10.

So anyone looking for a quick check-up on their swing those slots are there each week for everyone on a first come first serve basis.

3 Club Challenge

Incredible scoring from many entrants, none more so that Luke Elliott who posted 52 points using only a 7 iron, wedge and a putter!

The groups have now been drawn for this years’ winter league, the groupings are visible in the Corridor next to the Pro Shop – so look out for which games you need to play by 26th January!

Greenkeeper Update

As some of our members will now know, preferred lies on closely-mown areas is now in operation.

Further to that, Hedgehog wheels or Winter/Pneumatic wheels will become a necessity on trolleys as of Friday1st November.

If you don’t have them from previous years, you can purchase them in the Pro Shop.

The round white thing...

Since the game began in the 15th century, there is one thing that has never changed – the ball being the only piece of equipment used on every shot. Despite this, it still gets a raw deal with some golfers viewing it as less important than the clubs used to hit it. So, we decided to take a look back and see how modern golf balls compare to those of yesteryear.

In the beginning

Feathery balls reigned supreme for over 200 years in the early days of golf, but even they are relatively new compared to the original hairy balls (guess what they were stuffed with!).

It's hard to imagine what it would be like playing with those balls these days, and even the later-developed Gutty and Haskell balls left golfers with little-to-no room for error.

Where we are today
