Greetings from The Golf Team | Dunston Hall - Golf Team |
Driving's for show, putting's for Major titles
Putting criticism of Chambers Bay and the USGA to one side, if you managed to stay up past 3am on Monday then you were rewarded with one of the most entertaining US Open in recent times. True, it wasn't always enthralling for the right reasons as players and pundits queued up to have a dig at the state of the greens, but after Dustin Johnson three-putted the last, Masters champion Jordan Spieth was crowned the winner. The Grand Slam is very much on, and what a story that would be.
Despite all the criticism of the greens, it's somewhat ironic that the best putter in the world came out on top. Other players may have had a length advantage but when it came down to it, it was the flatstick that won Spieth his second Major, helped by his unerring ability to find the right spots on the green, time and time again.
So, with this in mind, it's time to get to work on your putting stroke; it's where you'll most likely pick up strokes on the field. Take a look at the putting article below and/or pop in to see us and let's take a look at your stroke, we may even find that a fitting will unlock your putting potential. Next up… The Open.
Over recent weeks our Motocaddy range has been hugely popular as more and more golfers head out onto the course. Have you ever considered investing in an electric trolley? Well here in the pro shop we have put together a quick and easy review on the fantastic ranges from Motocaddy:
S1 Trolley - from £299
Widely recognised as the most popular powered trolley on the market, the top-selling S1 model has won several high-profile awards, including Golf Monthly's fiercely-contested trolley test.
The sleek look and clean lines ensure that the S1 remains a contemporary trolley on the fairways and perhaps the most straight-forward to use.
The distinctive ergonomic handle grips and low-profile wheels reinforce the streamlined features of the trolley, while a well-placed speed control/on-off button provides a simple user experience.

The trolley incorporates a host of useful features such as a USB charging port to power GPS devices and an Adjustable Distance Control to send it independently up to 45 metres. The exclusive QUIKFOLD mechanism - widely regarded as one of the simplest on the market - allows the trolley to be assembled in under five seconds and hit the course in record time.
