Nick's top tip of the week
How to stay warm on the course in the winter
As the days and past weeks have been lets say slightly chilly my tip this week is on staying warm on the course
The essentials you need:
A Winter hat, Winter mitts, snood and handwarmers.
These four essential items are a must for all golfers during the winter months as you lose most of your heat from your face and your hands. The best thing which I think everyone should have who probably hasn't got is a snood. These are fantastic and I personally never play golf in the winter without one!
We have a great selection of the garments mentioned above in store. So why not pop in this weekend?
Bonus tip - Layer up!
As mentioned above it is important to stay warm during the winter whilst preventing swing restrictions. I would recommend wearing the following: A thermal baselayer, then a polo shirt then a Galvin Green sleeveless insula as these are designed to keep the heat. By wearing this combination you will stay warm without feeling restricted. So why not try this combination when you are next out on the golf course?
Sam's top tip of the week
Distance Control
As I find myself on the range teaching many different levels of playability the one common fault I notice is the lack of distance control especially with the scoring clubs, the wedges.
So my tip this week is on distance control with your wedges The best drill to do to get a guide on your distances is the clock drill.
Next time you're at the range get all your wedges out I would start from your lob wedge and work your way up. For example take your lob wedge have five balls at each position, swing to: 7 o'clock, 9 o'clock and 11 o'clock. By this you will get a gauge on how far your shots are going. Write them down for future reference and put in your golf bag to take out on the course.
Then repeat this process with all of your wedges After a few practice sessions you will find a couple of yardages you find easier to hit so this could be a safety yardages for lay ups and par 5's.
It's Show Time...
October provides golf professionals with the opportunity to view all that's new and wonderful in the golf equipment world for 2016. In Harrogate, the game's top brands showcase a number of new products yet to hit our store; it's an exciting time of the year for those in the industry, if not a little busy!
It's a great opportunity to meet with manufactures and get the lowdown on how they've been working to improve their products, and hopefully make this game a little easier. From drivers and irons, to balls and putters, technology is moving on - and we take great pleasure in helping to translate all of this information so we can present new line-ups to you as and when they arrive.
To help do that, look out for our exclusive video content in the coming months in both our newsletters and on our website where we will have all our latest shop offerings to help guide you if you're in the market for anything new.
For now, let's concentrate on the remainder of this year, there's still a lot of golf to be played but if you would like to see something new in the shop for 2016 click here to let me know what it is...
